… NO, it’s not a list of EX GIRLFRIENDS
It’s a list of EX RUNNING SHOES. It’s nice to go back and revisit the types/brands of shoes i’ve tried ever since I started running. I’m going to write a short commentary about each pair of EX RUNNING SHOE I ran with, how long i’ve used it, the good and the bad… hmmm parang black book nga!! maybe my unconcious is saying something… wehehe
EX-RUNNING SHOE 001 (January 2006 to January 30, 2008)- Adidas…. something, ewan ko kung anong model to
It’s quite obvious that i didn’t know JACK about running then, I didn’t even know if the shoe was for support or cushioning. I picked the shoe based on appeal (orange kasi eh). I used my adidas primarily for running on the treadmill. It felt ok till the day i started running outside. As I started running outdoors, the inner soles started slipping, at the end of every run, part of the inner sole would be all the way up my angkle already, to add to my misery, my knees would start hurting. That was when i decided it was time to let go….
EX-RUNNING SHOE 002 (February 2008 to September 2008 )- Mizuno Wave Precision 8
Being new to running back in Feb ’08, i had little to no knowledge about running shoes. The most immediate source of running shoe information would be my running friends at the gym. I did a quick poll and asked what brands they use, and the following brands were the most frequently mentioned… New Balance, Mizuno, Asics, Adidas. Since there was a mizuno store near the gym, I paid them a visit to check out their selection.
Before even recommending a shoe, the staff at the Mizuno store first evaluated my foot type, they said that I had normal to high arch. They recommended the Wave Creation 9, and the Wave Precision 8. I found the Wave Creation 9 to be too heavy so I opted for the lighter Wave Precisions.
The shoes worked wonders for me, cushioning was good, it gave you that good bounce near the heel and arch area. I never really experienced any support issues such as arch pain with those shoes since the max distance I covered was till about 25K only. I ran my fastest 10k with this shoe (46:25). I retired these shoes after 700 Kms, they are scheduled to be donated the BR’s donate a shoe program.

Hey great idea. I wish I thought of doing this. So what shoe do you use now?
Comment by thebullrunner July 7, 2008 @ 3:16 pmheya Jaymie.. sorry for the SEVERELY LATE reply
I got myself a pair of Wave Precision 8s after my Adidas early March this year. Recently, I started using different shoes for my short and long runs. I got myself a pair of AdiZero MANAs for runs that are less than 10k, and a pair of Mizuno Wave Creation 9s for my long runs. I still have my Wave Precisions for backup in case I decide to run in heavy rain. I love my AdiZeros but the Wave Creation 9s are just horrible… maybe I haven’t really broken them in yet
Comment by Mukhang Guilty August 20, 2008 @ 10:00 amVery funny way of putting it — little black book. Ugh, I’d have to agree with you that the Wave Creations are horrible. I’ve had them for 2 months now and still feels like I’m breaking in. Not to mention that I got shin splints since I started using them.
Comment by marga August 27, 2008 @ 9:30 amhmmm… i wore them again last night for my long run, it seems that the MIZUNO WAVE was designed to last for 100,000,000,000 kilometers.. it’s super HARD!!! We might need 1,000,000 kilometers to break it in.. hehehe
Comment by Mukhang Guilty August 27, 2008 @ 11:52 amAsics na lang! The old Toby’s at Glorietta (the one that got bombed!) had a pretty good selection. I bought my Asics pair there.
