I’ve been relatively nice about my post regarding the BOTAK Paa-Tibayan 42k, but after seeing the race results, I am OUTRAGED!
The results show that I was FASTER than my actual finish time!!!!
It’s normally acceptable to be off by a couple of seconds, but OFF by 31 minutes??? HOW COULD THAT BE????
- WAS I HALLUCINATING FROM DEHYDRATION WHEN I CHECKED MY POLAR FOR MY FINISH TIME?
- DID THEY DO SOME MATHEMATICAL CALCULATION BY SUBTRACTING THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE ACTUAL START TIME AND THE PLANNED START TIME?
- NAGING GOLF NA PALA ANG RUNNING NA KELANGAN MAY HANDICAP SYSTEM?
- DID THEY TRY TO MAKE EVERYONE’S FINISH TIMES FASTER SO AS TO APPEASE THEM FOR SCREWING UP THE RACE ROUTE AND NOT HAVING ENOUGH CUPS?
- WAS THEIR TIMING DEVICE GU’ed UP ON ROCTANE THAT IT CLOCKED THE FINISH TIMES FASTER THAN USUAL?
- OR WERE THE RACE ORGANIZERS JUST SEVERELY INCOMPETENT?
Mr Organizer, if you can’t even record the proper finish times… THEN DON’T EVEN BOTHER ORGANIZING ANOTHER RACE

Comment by jonel May 15, 2009 @ 5:23 pmHi,
I am finisher for 5K and been looking for result. Luckily found it in your site. Thanks a lot for posting. But just like you I am a little disappointed because my time was slower with one minute. I don’t know if because my watch is low bat, but incidentally I stopped my watch almost at the water station and it registered 31:31…how can the result possibly ended at 32:39 OMG.
This is my first run in BOTAK and well I guess it will take sometime before I run again with them.
Rgds,

actually, i based my finish time from the clock at the finish line (upper right of the LCD screen) since it was the reading with 4 hours..i became faster by 27 minutes from the published results..babawi na lang tayo sa milo marathon!
Comment by kingofpots May 15, 2009 @ 11:10 pmWell lucky you guys you have results (albeit inaccurate). Mine was worst, because my name and even my number was not in the race result! So I maybe there finishing my first 21k of my life but for them, I didn’t exist on that race. That’s how bad my first 21k experience could ever get.

Mine had a difference of about 5 minutes, but that doesn’t stop me from being shocked! And I thought my shock level reached its maximum after that day, which unfortunately was my first full marathon…
Comment by elkyoshi May 18, 2009 @ 2:56 pmOutrageous indeed!
I ran the 10k and I was pretty sure I timed in at around 1 hour + a couple of seconds, as I was looking at the official timer when I finished.
Lo, and behold! I found my name at the bottom of the list with an official time that’s 35mins late. How absurd can it get?
